Maison Harbour Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Combe au Moine 2018
A young Canadian/American couple, Colleen and Nicholas Harbour, started a small négociant operation from their digs in Savigny, which they are slowly expanding to accommodate more equipment. Their first vintage was in 2013 and they only buy fruit for their reds and it depends on sources and quality for their whites.
This is also aromatically cool and ripe with aromas that also derive from the red side of the fruit spectrum though here there is notably more emphasis on the notes of sauvage and earth/underbrush characters. The supple and relatively forward flavors, at least in the context of what is typical for CAM, possess good verve and a lovely minerality that adds a sense of lift to the mildly austere finale. This needs to add depth to merit my rating but there is enough underlying material for that to develop with time.
